The Right to Information law is meant to empower citizens and they should own it, said Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Commissioner for Right to Information Commission Professor Kalimullah.
Kalimullah was speaking at an awareness seminar organised by the Centre for Governance and Public Accountability (CGPA) at the press club in Kohat on Wednesday.
According to a CGPA statement, MPA Ziaullah Bangash told participants that the law makes elected representatives and public bodies answerable to the people, so it is important for democracy.
Citizens should exercise their right by asking public bodies for information, said Bangash.
CGPA Executive Director Muhammad Anwar shared the process of filing an information request to the public body. “There is no need to submit a fee or provide a reason for filing the request,” the statement quoted him saying.
