Introduction

Centre for Governance and Public Accountability (CGPA) is a not-for-profit, non-governmental, nonpartisan, civil society organization working for the promotion of public accountability and good governance.

Background

CGPA requires services of mid-level expert on economic growth. The incumbent will work as Project Officer of project titled ‘Mobilizing Economic Reforms to Keep Critical Space Open in Khyber

Pakhtunkhwa Province’. The project seeks to provide technical support in facilitating local economic development. The project seeks to generate knowledge, reform planning and innovation hub related to economic growth in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The project seeks development of strategy document for economic growth in consultation with Sarhad Chamber of Commerce, Women’s Chamber of Commerce, Peshawar Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industries as well as the KP chapters of the national Markazi Tanzeem, Industrialist's Association, and Pakistan Contractor Association among others.

The project also seeks initiating dialogues on removing barriers in local economic growth and improving business ecosystem in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Through a combination of public-private stakeholder consultations and on-going desk research, CGPA will engage Peshawar’s micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) community, formal and informal businesses, the Capital Metropolitan Government Peshawar, KP legislature and civil society to explore Peshawar’s potential for becoming a vibrant andsustainable market for inclusive economic growth.

Job Responsibilities

The project officer will support respective program Manager by:

  • Focal person for economic development activities undertaken under the project
  • Coordination with relevant stakeholders.
  • Liaison with government departments, CSOs and private sector enterprises
  • Organizing and conducting meetings, seminars, conferences as required.
  • Carryout research activities and FGDs
  • Ensuring timely deliverables of the project activities and reporting requirements
Requirements
  • Strong experience in renewable energy or economics or international developments or community engagement
  • Strong background in economics and growth, understanding of local enterprises
  • Excellent research, organizational and communications skills
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines/schedule
Qualification
  • A minimum of a Master’s degree from a University recognized by HEC specially in economics. Candidates should possess at least 5 years of experience in economic growth related activities,

private sector enterprises, economic policies, SMEs. Experience of working with donor-funded projects will have an added advantage.
